which they make rotund and stretch out to long-windedness. That´s all been written in the book of annihilation.
What´s not been recorded
are the undersides of the statues, perforated
where the lead plinths have encroached on the bronze.
That they got to the deposits inside through the missing eye,
through a hole in the skull. That the tools obtruded as far as the ribcage.
That they came across a sphere there the size of a dried-upheart. That the stamp-pads shed their ink,
made the paper black, swallowed all colours.
