Nujoom Alghanem is an Emirati writer and one of the most recognized female poets in the Arab world. She has published eight collections including: Evening of Paradise (1989), Sins (1991), Journeyings (1995), Homes of Pomegranates (1999), Indescribable (2005), Angels of Distant Yearning (2008), A Night Heavy on the Night (2010), I Fall into Myself (2012).
She is also a well known scriptwriter and multi-award film director. Besides directing, she has produced and written numerous fiction and documentary films. She currently works as a film, media and cultural consultant as well as film instructor for educational and professional organizations in the UAE.
Alghanem was born in Dubai in 1962. She holds an MA in film Production, from Griffith University in Australia and a bachelor degree in Video Production from Ohio University in the USA.
