Adisa Basic was born in Sarajevo, in 1979. She is a poet and journalist with a degree in Comparative Literature and Librarianship and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Democracy. She has published three poetry collections and her poems have been included in all recent anthologies of Bosnian poetry. She is an Assistant Professor of Poetry and Creative writing at the Department of Сomparative Literature and Library Science at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. For a number of years she has contributed to BIH weekly SlobodnaBosna, running her regular column of literary criticism. Her story “ To survive Hitchhiking “ was featured in a compilation of stories that won the UNESKO competition in 2001 and in 2011 she won the third prize in a contest for her story Driving Home for Christmas. She has read her poetry in many prestigious venues, bookstores and pubs, as well as festivals.
