Mariko Sumikura ( 1952), was born, lives and writes in Kyoto. She is the descendant of a very old family with roots in that city going back to medieval times. She studied English Literature. She also has interests in French Literature and modern Western philosophy. She has written 4 books of poetry; the last one is “Hikari oru hito (A woman wearing finest love), Chikurinkan Publishing Co. Osaka, July 2010. She has received the Japanises new writer’s awards for her two novels “To a mysterious woman” and “Shooting stars”.
