George Mario Angel Quintero was born of Colombian parents in San Francisco, California in 1964. As George Angel, he has published poetry, fiction and essays in US and Canadian magazines. He was awarded a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University, and a Nilon Award from Fiction Collective II. In 1995, he moved to Medellin Colombia, publishing poetry, fiction, theater, and essays in Spanish as Mario Angel Quintero. He has translated a significant amount of world poetry from English to Spanish under the pseudonym G. Leogena. He is also active in music, theater, and visual arts.
