The “Enhalon” award was established in 2012 as an award for the best song by a young author from the Republic of Macedonia read at the festival. In the history of the festival, a song award has been given several times, and even the biggest, “Golden Wreath” is initially awarded for a song. The Enhalon Award aims to encourage the poetic creativity of young artists.

It gets its symbolic, multifaceted name after the ancient name of the city of Struga – Enhalon, which means eel, with an allusion to the journey and return of young eels to the waters of Lake Ohrid across the Black Drim River, symbolizing in this context the renewal and development of poetry
