Biography
Suzana V. Spasovska was born in 1972 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She received her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate at the Faculty of Philology Blaže Koneski in Skopje. She has published eight collections of poems – And Love and Conspiracy, Death Letter, Divine
Woman, Through the Incense a Lily, Butterfly of Ashes, The Language of Light, Caduceus and Lyre, and First Night and Second Paradise. Butterfly of Ashes was shortlisted for the Miladinov Brothers award at SPE, and The Language of Light received the Ante Gold
Medal award at the international event Ante Pen as well as the book Caduceus and Lyre, which was shortlisted for the Aco Shopov award of the Macedonian Writers Association. A selection of her poetry, Goodbye Mirrors, was published in Bulgarian in Sofia.
In 2006, she edited an anthology of poetry by young Macedonian authors, Purple Springs, in the edition of the Struga Poetry Evenings. Her poems have been translated into English, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and other languages. She also published books on
Macedonian free verse, The Freedom of Verse, reviews of Macedonian literature, On the Top of the Blade, as well as a study of orphism and poetry, The Return of Orpheus – Orphean and Orphic poetry. She is the editor-in-chief of the electronic magazine for literature and other arts. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Writer’s Association of Macedonia. She works as a professional proofreader and professor at the American College University – Skopje. She writes and publishes literary theoretical texts for Macedonian literature.
