Biography

The Bishop of Dremvitsa David (Ninov) was born on July 27th, 1972 in Skopje. 

Before entering the monastic order, he was the editor of the periodical for literature, art and culture “Stremež” and worked in the Editorial for Culture at the National Television. He received an award for the best debut poetry book. His works are a part of several poetic anthologies of Macedonian poetry in different languages.

He devotes to the monastic life in 1995. In 1996, as a rasophore monk, he was ordained a deacon. He was tonsured into Great Schema in 1997 and in the same year he was ordained a hieromonk. Since then he has been initiating publishing activities from the monastery and editing the “Uspenie” periodical.

He was ordained a Bishop on June 17th, 2007. In 2008 he was appointed as Administrator of the Strumitsa Bishopric.

He fulfilled the duty of the First Secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops and he was also the editor of the official internet presentation of the Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric and of “Sobornost”, the Archbishopric’s periodical.

He finished cultural-sciences high school in Skopje and studied ancient Greek and Latin philology at Institute for classical studies, at University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.

He graduated from the Faculty of Theology at Aristotle State University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds a master’s degree (MTheol) from the same faculty at Aristotle University Thessaloniki, School of Dogmatics, History of Philosophy and Ecumenical Theology.

He has published five books of poetry: “Orjatsko kale”, “Semiri vo sečilo”, “Oglasuvanje na visočinata”, “Ojdipod”, “Nasekade”. 

He published the books: “Logium” (Sunday and festal orations and addresses on Gospel topics), “Kon poznanieto” (Notes from dogmatics), “Sekoj kraj, nov početok” (Articles and Editorials), “Vremetvorenje” (Editorials), “Τέχνη και αποκάλυψη” (some views on art and Orthodox theology in the post-World War II period), “Nadvor od granicite” (some views on the person and the system)”.

After the entry of the MOC-OA into liturgical and canonical unity with all local Orthodox Churches, by decision of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the MOC-OA, in June 2023, he was elected Vicar Bishop of the diocesan Archbishop of the Orthodox Metropolis of Skopje, with the title: Bishop of Dremvitsa.

He took part in international symposiums. He is translating theological texts and poetry from Greek language.
