Biography
Katica Kulavkova (b. 1951) is a Macedonian poet, literary theorist, and essayist. A Full Member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) since 2003, she is also a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Salzburg), and Vice President of PEN International (since 2008). As Professor of Theory and Methodology of Literature, her research encompasses literary theory, hermeneutics, Macedonian and Slavic literatures, intertextuality, cultural studies, the narcissism of minor differences, Balkan identities. Her oeuvre comprises over 70 publications as author, editor, or translator, including poetry collections, fiction, criticism, essays, anthologies, and translations from French. Her poetry are published in many translations: English, French, Russian, Polish, Italian, Portuguese, Croatian, Bulgarian, Turkish, Albanian, Romanian, Chinese, Serbian, Slovene, et al. She has received numerous prestigious literary and scientific awards domestically and abroad, and has been named an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Government (2021).
