Polly Mukanova (1980, Sofia, Bulgaria) is a poet, professor, literary translator, doctor of philology sciences. She is an author of the poetry books “Moments in the match-box” (2009), “Mussels have two sides” (2015), “Hermit’s haven” (2022), short prose: “Amor fati: fragments” (2012), “And was Sisyphus happy?” (2022), as well the monographs “History and theory of reading” (2018), “Reading and readers in Bulgarian society (1878 – 1944). The library institution” (2023). She participated in many national and international poetry festivals. She is the translator from Macedonian of the novel “Seasons” by Julijana Velichkovska (ERGO, 2017), poems by Zoran Jakimoski, the books “Self-cartography”, selected poetry (ERGO, 2023) by Slavica Gadzova Sviderska, “The (Dis)comfort of Existence”, selected poetry (DA, 2023) by Lidija Dimkovska. Her poetry is translated into: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Albanian, Romanian, Croatian and Macedonian. She is an editor of the e-magazine for literature Trubadurs. In 2023, her manuscript “Europe is the one” was approved by the Ministry of Culture for publication. She is a professor in book history, theory of reading and bibliophilia at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies in Sofia.
