Biography

Vele Smilevski (1949) is a poet, novelist, literary critic, essayist. Doctor of Philological Sciences, University of Ss Cyril and Methodius. Past: President of the Council of Struga poetry evenings (1979); President of the Macedonian Writers Association for  2000-2002,  2002-2004 and 2014 -2018.

– Macedonian Writers Association Aco Šopov for best poetry book in Macedonia for 2005, for the volume Fifty Ends of Poems

– Brothers Miladinovi on the Fiftieth Jubilee of the Struga Poetry Evenings, for the best poetry book published between two poetry festivals, for Forbidden book (2011). 

Grigor Prličev for the best poem of 2012 ‘A Lifetime for Solitariness’ 

– A state award 11 October for life work in the area of arts and culture (2012).
